MC STYLE TIP #3 | Knots
MC STYLE TIP #3: Learn many different knots for your neckties. Each collar and tie calls for a different look and can add great new options to how you dress. Variety is a gentleman's gift to the world.
This was my first try at it (the guy does it so fast in the video: my result was a little sloppy) - super easy to tie (reversed Windsor yea? I can't really tell, my brain doesn't work backwards).
Any way, I really like it, like the man says - it really deserves a tie tack - and attention to detail if you're not wearing it with a vest. I tied it with two different ties and had to change my initial and ending lengths for the wide and thin blades to give more...good (go English degree)... proportions.
There is a awesome chain of interwebz fact checking associated with 'Merovingian Knot.' I am a little crazy about specificity (usually) and jumped in to add the end result (what could be called the 'Real Merovingian Knot'), when the full story is much more interesting and also covered in thoughtful detail here:
